Even if this were true, that still does not support a fiddler playing the tune for an 1861-1862 impression, unless you have evidence to support its use. Again, plain/everyday/common is not the same thing as "old enough".

The tune used for Elvis Presley's Love Me Tender (Aura Lee) was known before he sang it, but that doesn't mean it was well-known in the 1940s.

Once again a thread in this folder is being closed after complaints were received.

Folks the moderators are damn tired of having to respond to complaints dealing with this folder. In future rather than getting sucked into responding to a post that does not meet the AC standard, please just report the post and it will be deleted. Do not respond to the poster just report the post and leave it to the moderators to deal with.
