  • Family Heirloom Weavers fabrics now in stock!!!

    Folks,

We have recently received a large shipment of various jeans from Family Heirloom Weavers. Added to our other stock fabrics we now have over two hundred yards of material we can offer to the general public for sale by the yard!

More information about the particular materials we have can be found by going here: http://www.wwandcompany.com/csfabric.html

The cost for these materials is $23/yard or $19/yard on orders of ten yards or more! (Plus shipping.)

Additionally, these materials can be used to make most of the CS garments we offer at no extra charge! We are very proud and happy to offer fabrics from the likes of Ben Tart, FHW, and others. Remember, a superb garment must start with superb cloth!

    Best Regards,

I've been up to Dan's dozens of times for work in that very room and I still cannot keep myself from drooling over the cloth! I know how you feel.

              Folks,

Just a quick note to let you know that I am running low/running out of a number of the FHW jeans, so if you were waiting to place an order now is the time. As of 12/2/08 I have the following on hand:

              Militia gray - 3 yards
Taupe gray - approximately 4-5 yards
Ozark brown on blue - approximately 20 yards
Ozark brown on brown - approximately 25 yards

As you can see the grays are almost gone. We still have some for finished garments and kits but that material is not available by the yard.

              Best,

              Dan

                Hey, Dan,

Any blue gray English kersey out there on the horizon?

                Thanks!

                  Wick,

Not a chance. With the last of the finishers going out of business there simply will be no one to make the twill woven woolens into 18 and 21 oz kersey. The writing has been on the wall for some time now that the fabric industry is dying in this country. Only operations such as Woolrich who do all of their own dyeing/weaving/finishing will survive. I have a piece of sky blue federal kersey here from Pat Kline that was very nearly DESTROYED by a poor quality finish job.

I suppose it could be conceivably possible to have some made up, but we would be talking about a minimum run of 250 yards. Considering I've made perhaps one item out of English army cloth a year in the past decade, I just don't know that the demand is there. ;-)

One last little item to make everyone jealous of Dan, the room of fabric is covered with windows on three sides. It's quite the wonderful room to cut and sew in.
