I'm pleased to offer to you a selection of Confederate kepis.
This batch of caps follow two styles- The Anderson Arthur Crews kepi and the Richmond Depot style kepi.
The Crews kepis are denoted by stock number beginning with "AA." These caps feature a plain, dark brown, leather visor, leather sweatband, non-functional chinstraps, and simple linings made of various stripes, plaids, and plain osnabergs. Many of the plain linings are made from antique/vintage feedsacks. The Crews kepi was worn by a member of the 29th Alabama Infantry (AoT) and can be seen on page 163 of the Confederate edition of Echoes of Glory. Fabrics are mostly jeans by Ben Tart.
The Richmond Depot kepis are denoted by a stock number beginning with "RD" and feature a tarred, cloth covered pasteboard visor, leather or tarred cloth sweatbands, non-functional cloth chinstraps, linings as described above in the Crews kepis. A text book example of a Richmond Depot kepi can be seen on page 156 of the Confederate Echoes of Glory. Fabrics are mostly jeans by Ben Tart.
