One of the things I truly enjoy, and you will see more of, is the creation of caps that are virtual clones of the originals.
This series of caps require carefully selected wool/jean to match the original closely and in some cases custom made fabrics, buttons, etc.
These are caps that I've examined, measured, and photographed in person.
Each of the clone series comes with 1-5 pages of documentation & photos of the originals. Years ago I did the Morgan kepi, recently the Kite kepi (VA Cav, Richmond Depot issue, ANV late war use) has been popular. Right now S & S Sutler has two of my Rowan kepis (TN Inf/ANV late war use).
I sell many of these caps to collectors who value the workmanship and the limited nature of the materials, and my sewing hand.
Keep an eye out over the coming year for some new & exciting "clone" headgear. Some will be available through other authentic vendors, some through me directly.
I've got one coming out in the next few weeks which I'll share once everything is in place. It is one I've been wanting to do for a long time. It took me two years to catch up with the original (serendipity).
When I can remember how to get back into my website, I'll post news & photos there.
Finally, I'll leave you with this thought.
Gas to an out of state Civil War show $267.60
Two nights hotel room $165.66
Six Meals $85.45
4 hours alone with a box of original Confederate caps...... priceless
