  • While Supplies Last: CS Cartridge Boxes!

    Folks,

We just received our first batch of .58 caliber CS "Lambert" Army of Tennessee cartridge boxes and they are FANTASTIC!!! Entirely hand sewn by Bill Lomas of E.J. Thomas, these boxes feature the unique "top hat" finial of our previous boxes, with an imported woven linen strap! The boxes come complete with tins by Axel Ulrich.

The boxes will be sold as complete sets with the straps and tins ONLY.

Price for the complete set is $235.00 postage paid.

Supplies are very limited (we only have a couple in stock right now, with a handful more on the way) so ACT NOW!

I have seen these boxes and they are one of the finest CS cartridge box reproductions I have seen.

      Dan,
since it is known as the "lambert" box, what do we know about Lambert himself?

        Bryant,

Very little, unfortunately. Cary Davisson originally researched the box, and sold the pattern and hardware to me when he retired from the business. I do believe Lambert was a member of the 44th Tennessee, though there are two John Lamberts in the 44th so I'm not even certain which one it was.

Dont miss out on this box. I personally own one made by Mr Davisson and it never fails to get admirers. The one piece tin is pretty cool by itself, together with the box it makes a great discussion piece. Is there any more information on the orginal production of this item? Perhaps a maker? I have been asked that question, but all know is what has been posted here.

                  Fred,

Sorry about the caliber thing, I fixed that.

                  Jared,

All the information I have has been presented here. Good on you for having one of Cary's boxes, ultimately we only had two go through our shop, so they certainly aren't ten a penny.

Any chance of getting a shot of the back and the bottom?

Yeah, realized around 11 last night that I had forgotten that. Have added a shot of the back of the box to the original post. Thanks!

                          Re: CS Cartridge Boxes!

Just received the CS box from Dan.

It is definately worth the price in my opinion. I don't have the original to compare it to, but it shows some of the characteristics of CS manufacture.

OK, a small pitch here for a personal friend: Get one of these boxes while you can. When they are gone, that is it so far as I know. If you haven't picked up his documented CS Blanket, please do so. When they are gone, that is it. No more. I don't anticipate the price to drop anytime.
When you are a 1-2 man operation and go out and invest a bunch of money in trying to provide the absolute best items available, you are doing it for a small segment of the hobby taking a business risk. True, the final decision was theirs, but if we want the specialized documented items, we need to keep the cash flowing in so that they can be around and have the financial muscle for more great things down the line.
                          Regards,
                          John Raterink
