  • What kit do you want next?

    Folks,

Well we're slowly but steadily adding to our offering of kits, but what next? There's a lot of different ways to go now, but I would like to get some feedback on what everyone wants, so sing out! Where do we go from here?

    Thanks for the feedback!

Re: What kit do you want next?

    Dan,
I have been very pleased with the items I have purchased from you in the past.
However, I am still working on the SA blouse kit I purchased three years ago. Now all I need a generic CS commutation jacket kit to keep me going.

    Regards

      Dan,
I like your kits, I am finishing the drawers kit and waiting on the Ross County kit. BTW When are you bringing back the "battle shirts"?

        Jared,

Your Ross County kit went out yesterday, along with some goodies my wife put in for you and your buddies (her rationale is always "Well, there's so much extra room!")

The battleshirt kits were a one time thing made possible by a closeout deal we got on some wool flannel. The flannel is gone now and it's unlikely we'll do them again as they were a logisitcal nightmare compared to our usual kits (there were over 20 different variations possible for the battleshirt kits.)

        Have a good one buddy!

I think SA trousers to go with the SA Blouse and US issue shirt would be a good choice but then I'm partial to Federal. ;-)

              Troy,

I agree, and that's what I figured my next natural step would be, I've actually been developing a trouser kit off and on for five years now!

At any rate, I'm surprised by the number of folks wanting CS kits, but I suppose those are long overdue since I've only done a couple of them.

I'm very happy with the results of the poll, there are three definite contenders and it's giving me plenty to think about and plan for! Thanks for your feedback everyone!

Dan, How about one not on the list, one for us mounted type. How about a quality mounted service jacket??

                    Dan,

I've never made an artillery or cavalry jacket so I would be hard pressed to write up instructions for them. That's honestly one of those low-demand items that I can't see selling well. You have to remember that authentic Civil War goods are a small community within a small community, so anything I offer has to be as universally desired as possible.

That's not to say that it will never happen, but I have to go where the demand is. Thanks for the idea, though!

Do you have a pattern for civilian sack coat? or can you make a civ sack coat?

                        Coy,

That's not really something we've ever offered. I would suggest contacting either Brian Merrick over at Corner Clothiers, or Chris Utley at Carter and Jasper (both can be found under the approved vendor tag at the top.) They specialize is civilian goods.

                            Michael,

Sure have. We will be offering CS commutation jacket kits and CS issue shirt kits starting in August. There are a number of details still to be hammered out (including a choice of jeans for the jackets) but we are moving forward swiftly to having those ready.

We will also be releasing SA pattern footman's trouser kits toward the end of the year.

Thank you everyone for the excellent feedback!

                              Dan,

As prompted in Outpost 3 thread, thank you! I find it great when a product line, especially a Bully Buy, supports an AC Forum event, and if you remember that's the way it used to be around here. :)
