I've just received a shipment of new tinware items, including some that I have been out of for sometime. Included in this shipment are small coffee pots, "92nd Illinois" style small coffee/cook pots, 2qt tankards (from an original in my collection), Officer's style cups, as well as small mess pans. The coffee pots (both styles) are made from machined hot dipped tin. From the research my tinsmith has done, this was the type of hot dipped tin that was most readily available before and during the war. Much of the reproduced hot dipped tinware in the hobby today is produced using a 4 step process, whereas the machined hot dipped tin is produced using an 8 step process, giving it a much more uniform appearance. Also, these pots are made for the fire, not the stove, so you don't have to worry about pieces falling off them if they get a little hot. The handle and spout is riveted to the pot. These little pots have seen alot of service by many individuals over the last few years with nothing but good reports!
