  • Announcement: The Neal Sexton Collection

    Greetings folks,

Many of you may have seen Paul's announcement that Brad Malone and I are once again AC Approved Vendors. I wanted to take this opportunity to post Love & Wienges' initial offerings and then discuss a few points.

First, this list is something very special and not to be seen again most likely. Neal Sexton, for those who know him, is quite an interesting fellow in many ways. In my humble opinion, Neal is one of the finest makers of garments in our small hobby with his attention to detail being astounding. Over the last ten plus years, I've traveled with Neal over many miles to view literally hundreds of original items. What is being offered here today is part of Neal's own collection of items plus a great assortment of new goods, many of which will never be offered again. As stated, many folks know of Neal's quality but I'l let them chime in, etc. Nonetheless, owning a Sexton garment is something special as the opportunity doesn't come around often.

Brad and I will also be posting our own lists of goods in the next few days and weeks. As we move forward, L&W will be offering unique ready made goods with no custom orders being taken. With our busy lives with career and family, ready made makes the most sense as a business model.

OK, now for ordering. Money Orders only will be accepted for these listed articles with items being shipped when payment is received. I ask that inquiries be serious folks with limited uber-Q&A; we're all busy! Anyway, please do not PM me regarding this announcement and sale; my email address is: ironscout1861@bellsouth.net

I'll be adding images of the items very soon. PS-It's a 1st LT's frock, not CPT! We look forward to offering outstanding goods at reasonable prices. Happy Easter everybody!

    Regards,

    Neill Rose

I will testify to the quality of Neal Sexton's work, having seen it first hand. Nothing on the list that I need at the moment, though. :(

        Neill,

Big thumbs up. I have a CS cap box that Neill did several years ago, and it is simply beautiful. Just some incredible work.

I also sent you a note on the RDII. Looking forward to seeing it.

            Fellas,

I'm not one to write testimonials about a vendor whenever I get a new piece of gear, but I think I have to mention a little bit about my experiences with Neill and Brad. Quite honestly, I don't think there's a better group of vendors in the hobby to deal with. Communication is great, work is timely, and I'd pay double what they are asking for goods.

I own sword belts, enlisted belts, cap pouches, bayonet frogs, box belts, canteen slings, holsters, painted cloth items, etc., from these guys. The craftsmanship is incredible, and always documented to an original (and they are glad to offer information about the original its copied from too). Sometimes you'll get custom cast hardware, sometimes you'll get original hardware. Ever wanted a sword belt with the only modern parts being the leather and thread? Wait till these guys make one. With Neill and Brad added to the approved vendors section of this forum, there is no need to stray off the list for accoutrements.

Re: The Neal Sexton Collection-New Pics

                  Hey folks,

Got everything worked out space wise with Paul I believe. Here's a nice batch of images; others will follow. While it's spoken for, I did want to post one image of the CS frock as it's a beautiful piece! The color can be a tad off sometimes in the attached thumbnails but they're still pretty good. Feel free to email me at: ironscout1861@bellsouth.net if you'd like better detail. These are some of the nicest garments in the hobby and priced right. Lot's of activity and interest so far; many thanks folks!

                    Folks,

Here's the last jacket and it's a beauty. The double row of stitching is fine and even. Very nice custom dyed French blue kersey cuffs and collar too. Enjoy looking!

                      Re: The Neal Sexton Collection

                      9) US Army Issue Shirt (well used, issue size and stained by indigo dyed flannel-)- Natural, wool flannel, Tons of hand sewing/felling with limited machining. A great field shirt to say the least and priced right at $60 (plus $5 Priority and insured)

I was most interested to see the images of this particular shirt--and the stains produced by contact with the indigo dyed coat worn over it. Real Indigo, especially in the darker shades, is often not 'rub fast'---it produces just these sorts of marks on another garmet--or on the skin. With so much fabric dyed with modern dyes, this tell-tale mark of a period dye is not often often seen on another piece. Even when Mr. Sexton is just wearing a shirt, he does quality work :D
                      Terre Hood Biederman
Yassir, I used to be Mrs. Lawson. I still run period dyepots, knit stuff, and cause trouble.

ADVENTURE CALLS. Can you hear it? Come ON.

                        Terri,

Thanks for the insight. It's a shame if folks might be concerned about something like that; I think it's neat! Anyway, many of the items have been spoken for, etc. Here's what we have remaining, all high quality items at very reasonable prices; I can't believe the civilian trousers and Trans-Miss jacket are still available. Give me a shout folks!
