    Gentlemen,

    Likewise, my experience purchasing a Tim Bender hat was equal to everyone who has written so far. I bought an 1858 dress hat two years ago. It is by far the best fitting hat I have ever purchased. Be sure to buy the nifty hat stretcher. You can use it with all your hats and caps as well.

    The box that the hat was shipped in is bomb proof! Keep it for storage. I put my (Clearwater) slouch hat and two forage caps in it for safe keeping.

      I bought my porkpie at Gettysburg in '03. He was very helpful and patient with me. I took me a while to pick the right one. After an hour or so he stretched it for me and told me if I ever had any problems to let him know. His customer service is by far the best I have encountered. Should I find myself needed another cover he will be the first person I contact. The quality of his hats are superior as well. OTher than minor wear and tear, my old porkpie is still in great shape.

        Because of the profuse praise here for Bender hats, I've ordered one of his Arabia hats for myself. Thank you all for the guidence. Will report back once hat is on my head.

          I have one of Tim's Flat Top Arabias. It is a perfect fit and it looks great. He had the hat to me sooner than expected.

            I am new to the Civil War and have been putting together my kit since Jan. Having dealt with vendors from multiple "eras" I woulf have to agree that Mr.Bender's hats are top quality products and his customer service is excellent. I look forward to wearing my Hardee hat at an event for the first time this weekend.

              Received my porkpie last night. I won't say how quickly it was made and sent to me, because it's not reasonable to expect that a vendor will deliver that quickly all of the time, but let's just say he promised high and delivered higher.

              It is also the best hat I've ever owned and fits the best as well. Perfect fit.

                My new Dometop Arabia has been on my head since Weds. night. It puts my other hats to shame. I'll be wearing it Monday to our Memorial Day activities at the local Union Vets Cemetery. A big thanks from the Trans. Miss. to Tim for recreating this particular style.

                    Many of soldiers were capured at the garrison of Plymouth, NC in 1864. They were preparing/ready for a full dress parade/inspection when the Rebs came on the scene and attacked. Several of the units were in dress coats and Hardee Hats when they were captured. Upon arriving at Andersonville prison camp they were dubbed "Plymouth Pilgrims". So it is with out a doubt that they thought the dress hat resembled a Pilgrim's hat. go on and use it on Thanksgiving. I believe Dirty Billy has appropriate strap and buckle for that use.

                        Received my Bender Hardee yesterday, great work. I own 2 Bender's, a Tim Allen and a Clearwater, all great hats, but Bender definitely gets a big round for appreciation of service.

                            I have a very nice Tim Bender bell crown hat, bought off this forum last year. It is a solid hat, nice looking, and I think it will serve me well. Many of my pards in the 1st Texas also have Bender hats. I am sure that as time goes on, my collection of hats will include more Benders. You really cannot beat the quality for the price.

                              I also have just bought a Tim Benber hat, after drooling over a couple my friends have.

                              I must say straight off, that Tim's customer service is exceptional - that's before you get to the product!

                              I am now trying to get an excuse together for another of Tim's hats...........Mmmm
