When I decided to attend the Duck River Line and spend the end of January freezing in Tennessee, I called Karin on the hunt for some knit goods. I had some questions about mittens and scarves because my knowledge of period knit items is quite lacking to say the least. Karin was more than happy to field my questions and share what she has found in her research, which interested me more and more as she kept going. Before she began to explain things to me, she let me know that she has been known to go on for a bit about these subjects and that I should feel free to stop her. Did I? No! In fact, after talking for a while, I would pose another quick question just so she would share more. Her knowledge and information had me glued to the phone.
I cannot say enough about Karin’s efforts in taking on this project for me. She took my order for mittens and a scarf a short time before the craziness of the holidays and was even generous enough to finish my order before I leave for the event this weekend. When I got home from work today, I found my order had arrived and impatiently tearing open the package, I slid the mittens on, threw the scarf around my neck, and could not be happier with them! Karin not only met what I had in mind with these reproductions, but she surpassed what I had expected! Simply first rate!
I had first heard about Karin’s work around the campfire here and there, and was very impressed seeing her samples of socks at Corinth in 2005. Even straggling through sutler row, battling food poisoning and nausea at that event, I still remember pointing out how taken I was with her reproductions. And now, after having spoken with her and being a proud owner of some of her work, I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for top notch knit goods!
Karin,
It was a pleasure talking with you and I cannot wait to read your future articles on your research! I will be in touch very soon about socks as well. There are so many choices, I don’t know where to begin! You went above and beyond for me on this project. Thank you. I hope to be a continuing customer for a long time!
