Re: Missouri Boot & Shoe
I made a small "test" order with them last month and was so pleased I ordered a full set of Confederate accouterments and a Confederate knapsack.
For the 2009 season I stepped up my uniforming impression big time with purchases from some of the veteran authentic tailors and felt accouterments was a must next.
An update from MB&S was the accouterments would ship out late next week. I can hardly wait...

Re: Missouri Boot & Shoe
I placed an order for a pair of shoes just before leaving for Piney Woods. I called on Monday to see if they got the order OK and if they needed any other info. Bob said, "You're too late". The shoes had already been delivered to my nephew's house!
I have a number of items from them and all are first rate!John Wickett

I just ordered the CS3-EOG shoes and can't wait to receive them. The customer service has been outstanding so far. I highly reccommend them based on customer service alone.Ben Fowler

Re: Missouri Boot & Shoe
I have nothing but good to say about Missouri Boot & Shoe, I love my db knapsack, and full set of fed leathers from there. I plan on getting a pair of shoes there this summer to start stepping up my cornfederate impression.
Their customer service is top notch, truly nice people.Jake Koch

Robert is quite possbly one of the best at his chosen trade. He has put countless hours of research into the products that he makes. His turnaround times are one of the fastest for the high quality of work that he does. With the exception of just a couple of items, every bit of leather gear and footwear that I have, have come from Robert's shop up there in Neosho. He and Beth are really good people, too.Matthew S. Re: Missouri Boot & Shoe
I have one from some time back and have found that the stitching on the prepainted straps where they attached to the bag worked much like perforations and led to eventual failure on both sides of the bag and had to be field repaired by sewing them back on. I suspect this is a design flaw in the original and not a defect in workmanship. (I also use my gear quite hard.)
Other than that the haversack has been a roomy durable haversack and one to be recommended to those who aren't concerned about the authenticity of paint.
My shoes from Serio are top notch as are some of the accouterments I purchased and his customer service. Despite having to repair a haversack that wore out I have no criticisms.Troy Groves "AZReenactor"

Re: Missouri Boot & Shoe
I own one of Robert's Federal haversacks. After several years of use,the strap did rip off at the sew point to the bag itself. But because it was a clean rip, another leather worker was able to repair it in 5 minutes.Again,it might have been from design. It could also be from where I used it so hard myself.Charging up a massive rocky hill can tear stuff up.The bag is still in great shape and has SEVERAL years left in it.
His CS accoutraments are really good, too.I have never had a problem with his knapsacks or his scabbards. And he's a great guy to talk to on the phone.Cullen Smith

Re: Missouri Boot & Shoe
Owning accoutrements, brogans, knapsacks and other "stuff" from MB+S myself, I recently was ready to order another set of federal accoutrements. Since this was to be an early war impression of a federal unit from Illinois, I (erroneously) thought that accoutrements from a St. Louis maker, which MB+S makes, might be in order. Was I ever wrong. Mr. Serio promptly told me that particular contractor did not make any items for the federal government before 1862, and then proceeded to tell me which set would be more appropriate. Mr. Serio really does his research. My hats off to him and his company, I am now ensconced in the correct gear.
