Just wanted to take the time to commend fellow A.C.er and Liberty Rifles comrade, Kyle Stetz of K. Stetz Clothiers for a job well done.
I finally broke down and wanted to find a white, cotton pleated-front shirt for my civilian and military impressions. As far as I was aware, Corner Clothiers and Historic Clothiers were the only two big vendors that offered this garment. However, being a college student I couldn’t afford to wait several weeks with the funds in hand (else the cash could have ended up as an inordinate amount of Five Guys burgers, or what have you).
So, I called up Kyle to see if he would be willing to take the challenge. After some convincing, he decided to accept. Only THREE WEEKS LATER, Kyle completed the shirt. I can only say that this shirt is a thing of beauty folks. He used only the best materials and pattern to produce a garment that exceeded my expectations for being his first pleated shirt.
My shirt was made from fine white cotton from Needle & Thread of Gettysburg, Pa. and constructed using the Past Patterns pattern and my own measurements. The garment was completely hand-sewn. Glass buttons completed the ensemble. It was delivered to me clean, wrapped in a protective cover, and starched.
The photos attached are of me wearing the shirt at a living history program at Drewry’s Bluff (Fort Darling) in Richmond National Battlefield this past weekend.
Well done, Kyle! Keep up the good work.
