  • musician's frock coat by Wade Rogers

    Comrades,
finally I got the chance to take some pictures of the frock coat Wade Rogers made for me.
It is based on the Homespun Patterns pattern but is altered in several places, for example the tail pockets are different. Wade has examined several originals and these features can be found on this frock coat too.
The breast is padded, stiffened and quilted. The workmanship is pretty nice. The sewing is well done and is mostly machine sewing but also a considerable amount of hand sewing. Some stitches on the breast brais wander however but that is consistent with period examples. Wade has used an excellent broadcloth for the frock coat, W.W. &Co wool lining and Needle and Thread piping and braiding.
Wade is on this forum just in case anybody might have questions.

I saw this coat in the making...Normally I like all the trim stitching to be "perfect", but I had just been looking at several artillery shell jackets where the braid was rather carelessly sewn on. Wade showed me photos of an original frock coat and I must admit the braid sewing he did was right on target. I like it - looks good on you!!
