    Re: Thank You Ben Tart

All this talk about Ben Tart has spurred me to finally order that Civilian Sack Coat kit of his I've been eyeing.

Good for you. Do you know what type of fabric you are going to get it in?

I've noticed that Walnut jean comes off in different shades when photographed.

I trust Ben Tart with the fabric, CC with the patterns, and Needle and Thread with the supplies.

I had once considered buying one of Dan's custom Richmond Jackets he made a little while ago. He made it with Walnut dyed Cassimere. It was 100% handsewn and a true work of art. Now that Gettysburg is just around the corner, I am reconsidering it, if it's still on the market.

        It was expensive though.

Yes, I've ordered it in Brown Satinette. I'll likely use the provided lining pieces as patterns to fabricate a lining of my own material choice as well.

I had planned to order buttons for this, and several other projects, from John Zaharias, but he is completely MIA. Anyone know if he is still in business, because he is not answering his email?

Wooded Hamlet, here I come for those. :)

Ben is awesome. He is great to work with. A real asset to our hobby. I have never had issue with him. Other than he is so totally busy. Now that he has Beth or they have each other :) I am sure that can only help.

If you ever want to know if Ben has something you can check the website and follow Beth's directions. http://www.bentart.com/fabrics.html
or you can email them at ben.tart@yahoo.com or befausell@yahoo.com. They have really ramped up the site in the last 6 months. Here is their in-stock page http://www.bentart.com/InStockItems.html

I concur completely Thank You Ben Tart

You may want to see if Dan still has it. Heard that they too do very good work.
