  • Atlanta Arsenal saddles

Not sure if this is the righ place for this thread...
Mods feel free to move if not.

I've been looking at repro Atlanta Arsenal, Hopes,
and a few other Spanish/Mex influenced saddles
and recently came across "Glen Pier Depot" saddlery.

I really like the look of their AA saddle, as well as their repro
Spanish Moss saddle pad, and their prices certainly look very
    reasonbable too.

Has anybody here, had any dealings or have any product
reviews of this company's goods? I'd like to hear back from you.

    Thanks

    Jeff,

I believe the saddle that is pictured on the Glen Pier website is the saddle that Karl made for Joe A. who rides with the 7th Tenn Cavalry. Joe showed up with that saddle at the Shiloh Tactical this spring and it was very nice. He was riding in it at Outpost III and said that he really liked it.

I am looking at purchasing one from Karl too.

Jeff, I ride both a GPD AA Texas and a Mac. I feel they are very good quality and I have been happy with both saddles, and Karl's service. Here is two links to earlier GPD threads:

You will note that he now does both hand and machine stitching, so you will need to request and pay for the hand stitching (to be P/C).

        Jeff,
I have a Glen Pier Confederate Maclellan saddle. I have been very happy with it's historical accuracy and thusfar performance/durability.

All ladies in Houston and surrounding counties who have cloth on hand, which they can spare, are requested to donate it to the ladies of Crockett for the purpose of making petticoats for the Minute Men of this county, who have "backed out" of the service. We think the petticoat more suitable for them in these times.

          Mike-
          Thanks for the thread links.

After reading the threads....and I'm not sure why
that thread didn't show up after I ran a search?

But Karl's saddles sound like they're well made, and
that everyone who bought one from him seems be happy with it.

So outside of getting an original tree and parts....which would
cost a fortune, plus you can't trust the old trees, unless I supposed
you have it x-rayed for stability. This seems like the best route toward
          a authentic AA repro saddle.

Does anyone know if the current prices listed on his site,
reflect the machine or handsewn saddle price?

I got in contact with Karl, and he was very
helpful. Thanks to all who answered questions
              for me.
