August Bully Buy: Canton Flannel Bottom Shirt, Completely Hand Sewn: $85.00
The shirt based on the Undershirt held in the Gettysburg National Military Park Collection is the very familiar shirt that was on display since the early 80’s at the former visitor center. The shirt, authenticated by the late Bill Brown, is a shirt of the period but does not have a provenance to the battle or any particular soldier, but is associated with the Borough of Gettysburg. The shirt, purchased by Mr. Brown from a local estate sale, was used in his initial design of the displays that we are all familiar with from the Old Visitors Center. The shirt reflects some of the details of the period in the form of a collarless neck opening, and a shorter than full length sleeve. The Undershirt is made with these details along with a tight to the body fit so that I can be less noticeable underneath ones short and outer garments.
You shirt will be made to order, and will be hand sewn to your measurements. One at a time, just like the original. The shirt would be excellent to have on hand for some of our late in the year events.
