  • Atlanta Arsenal Accoutrements

I am looking for information on Atlanta Arsenal marked accoutrements. I have a photo of a holster and cartridge box marked Atlanta Arsenal. However, I am looking for information on cap pouches. Does anyone have photos, drawings, and or dimensions of one? Or know of a museum that one is located in.
    Thanks in advance

Bob Serio at Missouri Boot and Shoe has Atlanta Arsenal items listed in his catalog. I have not seen them but you might contact him to find where the pieces are he used as models and patterns plus whatever more info he could pass on about that arsenal's leather gear.

Leighton Young has a tremendous amount of info on Atlanta Arsenal items. I've misplaced his contact info but will see him the first weekend in Feb. at the Dalton relic show. I'll get it to you then.

I got an A.A. cap box from him last year and hope to get a cartridge box this year.

Try the Atlanta History Center. They have a great collection. Here a link to their site http://www.atlantahistorycenter.org/

They are a great resource. If you are coming to the Pickett's Mill event you should schedule some time to go by there.

          Bill et al,

Check www.oldsouthantiques.com under "past items" for an 1861 marked Augusta cap box.

Contact Butch Myers in Richmond. He made me an Atlanta Arsenal cartridge box and a cap box both modeled off originals that he has/seen/photographed and measured. It's been a couple of years, but recalling my conversations with Butch, I think there are less than a half-dozen Atlanta Arsenal cap boxes in existance (maybe that number is smaller - like 3?). I believe one or two may be at the Atlanta History Center. Talk to Gordon Jones at the ACH.
