Gentlemen,
I'm looking for information on the Macon Arsenal conversions of the 1842 Springfield, the .69 caliber Richmond carbines and the "Fremont" rifled 1842 Springfield. I have two of J. McAulay's books on civil war and military carbines and J. Murphy's Confederate Carbines & Musketoons and Confederate Rifles & Muskets. I also have a copy of Paul Davies' CS Armory-Richmond. These books have provided some information on the Richmond carbines and the Macon conversions but I'm hoping someone will point me in the direction of other sources of information regarding these weapons. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
