    howdy ya'll,

    i am looking for period correct ways to clean my 1853 Enfield. i am trying to create a '62-63 ' impression. can anyone help? thanks alot.

      There are reprints around of both the Federal Ordnance Dept. Manual for musket maintainance and the British Army Volunteer Manual for the Enfield.

      Both are excellent resources and would thoroughly answer your questions.

        crocus cloth was pretty common, essentially a fine grit sandpaper, mainly used for the metal parts...can be packaged in squares and wrapped in brown paper...
