1862 Description of Sutlers at Shiloh

I came across the attached missive this morning, which I transcribed several years ago but had forgotten about. Accordingly, I'm posting it for your perusal, comment, and entertainment.

Warning: there is a lot of "period racial terminology" in this missive, which isn't surprising since the "Chicago Times" was a die-hard Democrat sheet and was even briefly closed down, in 1863, for its alleged "disloyalty."
