This photo is one of three from another Civil War website. What really stuck out to me was how many men are wearing breast plates. I guess they are likely western Federals.

Really fine, good-looking body of men. Several of the hats appear to have started life as M.1858s. Wish it was a group from the 42nd Indiana; had a Grandpa in that outfit.
The other neat thing is the "jaunty" way the men are wearing their hats. It reminds me of how my grandfather's WW1 unit wore their overseas caps, off to either side. I was told by "oldtimers" that if you wore your hat a certain way, it let people know what kind of personality you had. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
