  • Confederates dying federal great coats

    Hello all,
I am trying do to some research on Confederates troops dying Federal great coats for their own use. I read that Confederates would dye federal great coats a brown or black color, and use them for themselves. My question is what sort of dye would troops, or companies have access to in the field? If anyone knows of any further documentation about the subject, I would love to get my hands on it, and eventually try to dye my own coat.

    Thanks,
    Matt Sternad
