Gent,
Our merry band of brothers will be hosting an event at G-Burg in Aug. I want to make the state flag of the 1st Texas for our event. I've seen the flag of the 1st that was captured at Antietam in the cornfield. A second flag was made for the Reg. by the same women who made the first. The second flag as I understand was trimmed with black crepe to honor the dead of the Reg.
In the book of" Devils Den" it states: George A. Branard, the color bearer, glorified himself when he found "the highest and largest rock on the crest" and "planted the adorned standard of the Texans, adorned with the Lone Star, shining far off to friend and foe, with the effulgence of its glory."
My Question is: The Size of the flag, and if anybody can lead me in the direction of a picture or description of this flag. I would like to make it as authentic as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Art
