Hello, I assume that you could find any color on such a simple fabric as pollow ticking.

      Re: Pillow Ticking Fabric question

I have seen original examples of pillow ticking fabric mostly with dark blue stripes but have also seen original examples with light blue, torquoise, black, deep red, and green. (Whether these were the original colors of the stripes or if they had faded to the current colors after many years of exposure to the elements could not be determined at the time.)

I am not sure if this helps. I am just letting you know what I have examined in regards to 140+ year old artifacts.

Some mordants required to fix black can eat through the textile pretty quickly. Some tickings were done with indigo blue, which is fixed and fast for color, but does not eat the base fibers.
