velvet cuffs on junior CO's frock coats

Comrades, my pictoral research material is unfortunately somehow limited but I am searching for provenance of the use of velet on cuffs of junior officer's frock coats. I have seen several senior CO's coats of course that did have this feature in addition to a velvet collar. If anybody has original pictures that show fr example a second Lt. wirth such a feature on his frock coat I'd much appreciate him sharing this with me.
