Re: Who is the maker of this shelter half?
Thats a pretty common reproduction half as far as high end makers go. When I was doing the sutler thang I got McComb maker halves from a bunch of different folks, and all pretty much looked like the picture you are showing. Of course, I cannot feel the weight of the fabric and the loops in your picture might not have come with the the half.
Some possible makers:
Andrew Doddington
Haversack Depot
Chris Daley (I think he made shelter halves at one point)
Im sure I can think of more if I take a few moments.Joseph Hofmann

Well, it's light in weight, I can say that much. I was hopeful that the stamp might have been a giveaway, as I wasn't certain how many makers reproduced halves with that particular stamp. For instance, W.W. & Co. McComb halves use a different variation of the stamp that is seen here; perhaps Brian, or Dan, or even Chris might be able to chime in on this one.

No idea. It's not one of ours and I'm not really a student of other maker's reproductions.Dan Wambaugh

Re: Who is the maker of this shelter half?
It might be from Mike Thompson of Dundalk , MD. He used to make some really sweet repops , among them Shelter Halves with exactly these makers markings. I've got a set .Barry Dusel

It doesn't look like the half I have from Mr. Daley. It seems like I remember one like that being from Haversack Depot. Not exactly sure, though.Ben Fowler

Re: Who is the maker of this shelter half?
After Pat M'Dermott wrote his article on shelter halves (about 1985), quite a few people made them with this mark. Don Rademacker worked with Pat and used the same mark on some of his. A lot of people made their own (including me) and Don or Pat would mark them for you if they were good enough.Scott Cross

Thanks for all the input, gents; though it looks like we're gonna have to toss this one into the "unsolved mysteries" file.Last edited by WoodenNutmeg; 02-09-2009, 02:05 PM.

The good news is it is a pretty good half, though it is difficut to tell the weight of the fabric.Soli Deo Gloria

At one time or another Ross Lamoureaux was making some very nice shelter halves as well.
