Late war Federal officer insignia

[Remember1864]

Anyone know a good source for this? I'm aiming for the plain style, simple and somewhat subdued. (Not the shoulder straps or "circlets"). Need a set of Captain's bars asap.

Stephen Osman is a great one for these things. Email him and he'll send you his catolog. I own some shoulder straps from him and know others who have the insignia you're talking about and you can't beat the quality. foragecaps@earthlink.net

I am in the process of having some made up...but it may be 4 to 6 months before they meet my standards and I have them ready to sell.

I'll second the suggestion for Stephen Osman. He carries a set that confirms to General Order 286 of November 1864 as well as regular straps. I emailed him this morning about a set of captains straps and they will be in the mail tomorrow. You can't be that!
