The great thing about the Library of Congress high-res. images are that they keep on giving so much, and in neat surprising little ways.
While aimlessly floating through and scouring several images that caught my eye, I downloaded LC-DIG-cwpb-04572, an image of Major W.B. Chustill.
Draped over the chair to the left of the image is his great coat, and thanks to the way it falls over the back of the chair, you can make out some details of the interior. Note the dark lining, possibly (or maybe quite probably) red flannel, both inside the coat and underneath the cape, as well as the interior breast pocket.
Just some cool little details for anyone in the midst of making a great coat right now. It's the perfect time for one... at least up here in Jersey/New York!
