Re: cw color guard
Hello Kevin and all others who have posted some good information pertaining to color guard correctness. The manual that you sent was great, and I am reading "The Color-guard" by Hosmer. One of the reasons I started this research was to get a better idea of the uniforms in the actual guard, which is becoming apparent. The guys in my group are trying to figure when, (and if), shoulder scales, the dress hat should be worn at ALL during any kind of ceremony we may do other than a reenactment such as a veteran gravesite honor guard, etc (with or without flags). One thing I'm becoming aware of is that it seems only the US Regulars wear the dress hats and scales at color guard/ceremony duty? We portray 7th NJ Volunteers who wore frocks and Army of the Potomac canvas gaiters like the Iron Brigade. We actually have a color presentation at a double A baseball game in a few months and want to figure the correct way to dress as well as maneuver. We do not have 8 corporals though. I'm wondering where the line gets blurred in trying to be 100% correct, yet wearing scales to show the public a dressier uniform. Thanks again for any direction.
