    Re: Good accurate percussion caps.

Woe, but to have the old threads available...

    Ben,

Not sure if absolute authenticity is the goal when using blackpowder. Job one is safety.

For a rifle-musket, I have never had a problem with Dynomit Nobel. Other people swear by Navy Arms, but they are harder to come by.

Stay away from the IRC caps, the ones with six tabs rather then four. They tend to shatter more often than others, even if it is only occasionally.

What area do you live in? Someone should be able to point you to a dealer that carries Nobel or Navy.

I was able to pick up a bunch of tins of NAVY ARMS from Fall Creek Sutlery over the summer. Do NOT buy anything else from them as they are a typical skinner row operation and are not an approved sutler om most progressive vendor lists.

The NPS in this area actually sent around a warning about these caps and have forbidden their use at firing demonstrations. Steer clear of them.

"CCI" brand caps also have the six flanges and a reputation for being hotter when fired, and sending fragments where there should be none.
