    Everybody...

We are currently reproducing a Schuykill Arsenal National Flag by hand and we are looking for a supplier of authentic fringe and trim for the flag, and a flagpole. Can anybody help me out?

We are only willing to put authentic materials into this flag, so please do not recommend a vendor who produces less than authentic fringe, trim and flagpoles.

    Thank you so much.

      Re: Flags and Flagpoles

      Greetings,

Another potential source for your items might be Steve Hill, of the Indianapolis War Memorial:

      dupageflag@att.net

By "Schuylkill Arsenal" flag I presume you are attempting to make a flag like those produced under contract to the Philadelphia QM Depot? Two of the largest suppliers were Horstmann Brothers and Evans & Hassell. Steve can undoubtedly provide additional assistance on this score. I also presume you have read "Advance the Colors!" by Richard Sauers as well?

One other source of information can be found here:

        Unfortunate news.....

I recieved the following information from Garrison's father........

        Mr. Chapman,

My son Garrison Beall is a member of your group, Authentic Campaigner, user name “vuhginyuh”

Yesterday evening, April 13, he was involved in an accident that resulted in the traumatic amputation of three fingers on his left hand. Two were successfully reattached in surgery last night, but the third, his little finger is in question.

He has asked me to contact you to possibly pass this news on to your other members.

He is inclined to do so for he is helping at least one member procure a flagpole.

It was in the trimming of this pole that the accident occurred.

The member’s first name he was doing the work for is Patrick and lives in Los Angeles. Garrison could not remember the member’s contact information and he is hoping an open message will alert him to the situation.

He has developed a friendship with several and I feel like that they would want to know.

        Thank You

        Byron G. Beall, MD, Ph.D.

        bbeall@ec.rr.com

Let's keep Garrison in our thoughts......

              Re: Machines are bad.

Thank you to all the folks who sent a kind message and word or two of support. I never thought I would appreciate a Gerber Daisy so much.

The little finger on my left hand could not be saved. Its neighbor and my all-important middle finger (especially during the heavy tourist season) are salvageable. By the way, my little sister the ghoul, took pictures of the entire incident and wants to put them on her web-page. Geeeeez...

I have a suggestion to consider. The total for the cards, letters and flowers would add up to a nice gift to the CWPT or to a serviceman or woman.
Considering the wounds some Marines, Soldiers and Sailors my age have to cope with today; my injury is a minor scratch. (Boy do I feel like an ass saying this, but my only restriction is trying to keep my cast out of sea water until July.)

Why don’t we just make a donation of some kind to them in the name of an ailing person in the future? That is what I would like if the occasion presents itself another time.

Again, many thanks. I really appreciate the kindness.
