I would suggest Todd Watts. There is a thread on the forum somewhere about his work. His services are available through Blockade Runner, or you can contact him directly through email, libertytree@peoplepc.com. His customer service is also first class.

I'll 2nd that notion regarding Todd Watts. I do have a defarbed E. Bond Enfield from him and he did an amzaing job on the re-shaping of the stock along with a clean cartouche stamp and date stamping along with period proof marks just made this a real beauty. His knowledge of Enfields and customer service was outstanding from the get-go and was equally impressed by that.

Todd Watts is so far and away the best that whoever is 2nd is well behind. Todd will have a set of London gun maker J.E. Barnett stamps pretty soon. David C Burt is having him de-farb a P-53 Armi Sport as a Barnett in the next couple weeks. There is just one caveat about Todd's work. He does it right, and that means he can only do a couple guns per week and do them properly. Hence, there can be a slight time lag between when you send him the gun (or buy it from BRI) to when he finishes the job to your personal specs.

Most of us find it worth the wait, but you can be without a musket for a while so if you go that route plan accordingly.

Todd Watts is the ONLY person recommended to my group for work on their guns. I was fortunate enough to get a GREAT weapon that was a project between Todd and Craig Barry.

Agreed, anyone fortunate to have a weapon that was a result of a collaboration between Craig and Todd is truely getting an amazing love child. The '42 I recently picked-up from Craig is a strong testimony to what those devilish boys are capable of.

Go with Todd, as Craig states above Todd is having the stamps made for a "Barnett", which will be his first. His customer service is excellent, he sends me regular email updates on the "Barnett" project, and I believe he has another order for another "Barnett" already.

I have 4 "Barnetts" on order now thanks to The AC it seems. I'm looking forward to this new offering to give a little more variety to us out there. My "modern gun" customers are getting more and more in my way right now as hunting season approaches but I'm still trying to do 2 defarbs per week putting me roughly 6 weeks backed up all the time on these guns. I am still trying to get on top of a bunch that were ordered in the Spring when I was in the middle of my move or when they were back-ordered from the supplier as well.

Oh, quit whining about your backlog of work, Watts. You provide a much needed (and appreciated) service to the guys here who want to get it right. The JE Barnett & Son is an interesting gun maker option to offer, and you will probably do as many of them as "Tower" and LACo. Barnett was the Eli Whitney of the London gun trade, and along with LACo shipped out the first P53s to reach a Confederate port aboard the blockade runner Bermuda in September 1861. Plus the Italian repro P53s are kind of crappy, like a Barnett.

With the skill and the variety of options offered, it is a great time in the hobby to be getting an Enfield de-farbed regardless of the wait. Because Watts gets the details right, his work will always be in demand.

So get back to work, Mr Watts and I will see you this weekend for the "Defending Hearth and Home" LH program out at Stones River.

Can't wait, Craig. I finally get to use the VA Contract musket! BTW, we missed you and Hunter in the lines Sunday at Atlanta. I had no choice but to take a hit after I'd shot my 60th and final round that day.

                      Mr Watts:

Dad and I got the Nash Farm blues after the futile assault on fireant-chigger-tick hill on Saturday, so we figured our time would be better spent Sunday watching that new fangled game called "baseball." Turns out the city of Atlanta has some kind of local team that plays there but they aren't very good. It sure was hot. Thankfully there was a gentleman carrying ice cold beer, but the prices were about what the sutlers in our camp charge!

Saw a good many of our old friends, but that did it for me for a while. We miss "Moe" Lassus at these things, Dad especially.
