    Mark,

You should post this in the photo section as well. Great drawings. I am afraid these will go for a quite a price tag. I know several members of the Hard Heads and the Citizens Guard got together and tried to purchase a CDV of Lt. Col. George H. Stevens of the 2d Wisconsin off of e-bay last week and got outbid at the last seconds by $700.00. I should post Stevens' pic there too as it seems some collector trying to make a buck got their hands on this CDV.

    Thanks for sharing,

      Greetings,

Yes, I know exactly what you mean about purchasing cdv's. A rare cdv image of Colonel John T. Wilder ("Wilder's Lightning Brigade") popped up for sale a couple of weeks ago and eventually went for over $800! Unbelievable. I saw another rare dag, showing a street scene in a California Gold Rush town, go for over $40,000!

This just goes to show that many "collectors" have more money than sense.

These are some unique pieces of artwork. If I'm not mistake, I believe I saw these for sale a few years ago, perhaps even on eBay. At that time, I did a little research into the imgaes and the illustrator.

Harvey J. Brown was from Holley, Michigan and enlisted in Co. A, 24th Michigan Infantry on August 12, 1862. He was 28 years old. Transferred to the Invalid Corps on February 11, 1864. Discharged for diability at York, Penn. on August 16, 1864, from 108th Company, Second Battalion Veteran Reserve Corps.

The Port Royal image and the Fitzhugh's Crossing sketch appear as engravings in Orson B. Curtis' History of the Twenty-Fourth Michigan of the Iron Brigade. (Detroit: 1891). The Gettysburg image does not.

Great items and they'll no doubt bring a handsome price.
