not aware of any rule I may be breaking, but saw this earlier today and thought I'd post it. The stamp is pretty cool....

Bryant, That is nice with the I&C stamp. Check out the awl holes on the back. Looks like it might have been recycled leather.

Those holes in the back actually mark the location of the leather piece that is used to store the oil bottle. I have included an image of the interior of a ball bag in the GNMP collection to illustrate this.

          Eric,
To my (limited) knowledge, that is the 1st I&C stamp I have seen on leather goods. I'm sure they exist in others, but the one english box I have seen was not stamped.

Bryant, I have view a few originals with the same stamp. I was recently able to view an original waist belt with the same stamp. There is a confederate manufactured cap box in "Collecting the Confederacy" that was made form recycled leather that retains a partial I&C stamp. I think there is also a cartridge box in the same book that has the stamp.

Brian, Thank you, I forgot about the oil pouch.

2 or 3 of the British cartridge boxes at the AHC have that same stamp, and IIRC at least one of their ball bags does too. The ball bag is a nice item, but I'm wondering about the statement that they were issued with Whitworth and Kerr rifles ... is there documentation out there to support that?

Here is another photo for reference of the I&C stamped snake belt Eric referenced earlier from my collection. While hard to read in the photographs, it can be better seen in person but conforms to the other stamps posted in this thread.
