  • Federal Infantry Jacket, Lining

    Hallo Kameraden,
I have one Question: Which kind of linings of a Federal shell Jacket are known exepting Domet Flannell. My main interesst lies on infanrty pieces and especial Schuyilkill examples. I am thinkin about Jean Cloth and Woll Flannel

St. Louis Depot Artillery jackets have wool jean lining http://www.cjdaley.com/st.louis.htm . From my understanding SA Depot also made Invalid Corps jackets http://www.cjdaley.com/vrc.htm , which appear to have been lined with a wide variety of fabrics. Not exactly what you were looking for, but this may give you a idea of what was in use. Good luck with your search.

    All the best,

      Christof,
Here is an older thread that shows the linings of two mounted services jackets. http://www.authentic-campaigner.com/...ad.php?t=24010

My understanding is that many Cincinnati Depot pieces were lined in alpaca, but don't quote me on that.
