  • English cap pouch question

I have looked around and cannot find a photo to answer my question. Are the sides on the rounded English imported(sling mounted) cap pouches made to collapse or are they ridged? I thought for sure there would be a side view photo of one somewhere online...

    Thanks!

    Re: English cap pouch question

As far as I am aware, from samples, photographs and prints, cap pouches issued for pouch belt or waist belt were constructed of heavy leather front and back pieces with thinner side pieces, therefore collapsible. The configuration for pouch belt or waist belt would be different but produce the same profile.
"Tangled Web" addresses this clearly as does "Equipment for the Army".
PM me and I can send you some scans and photos of Indian army post Mutiny cap pouches and other types.
