Its interesting how you can see the demand for knapsacks hold steady, spike, then drop off. Wonderful document.

Fantastic information on the Lorenz issue and returns for the brigade also. 11,000 .54 cartridges issued in December, 1863. I wonder how many of these were shared with Mississippi Rifles, or if there were any in the Tramp Brigade?

I think it's also interesting that as late as 1864 they were returning .69 caliber (I'm assuming they were smoothbores) as "unserviceable". I should really break out my India Pattern Bess for an impression!

Great stuff Will. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Papers of Capt. T.S Fayssoux Ordnance Officer, Evans Brigade

Back from the dead. Found a little update, this is also from a Fold3 file, but it's from a different spelling of Fayssoux's name, this is not a uncommon happenstance. This is actually a little bit earlier than the other stuff.

Ordnance issued to the 23rd SC Dec. 9th 1862 at Kinston NC

          40 Muskets
          260 Cartridges cal .58

          76 Haversacks
          40 Sets Accoutrements
          5 Gun Slings
7 Saber Bayonets, Scabbards, & Frogs
