    Re: Interior of Confederate Jacket

Watching the video again on the highest available definition, the belt loops do look a lot like the type on the May jacket. The lack of a center back seam is apparent as well. Very cool stuff....and I can't help but think about English garments that were produced with the one-piece back. Tait jackets of course but also some private-purchase imported stuff for officers. Were pre-cut English jackets imported and maybe constructed domestically?

      Re: Interior of Confederate Jacket

Either that or cutters at the Richmond Clothing Bureau saw the Tait jackets and thought the one piece back would be an easy time saver to incorporate into their jackets. They were willing to omit belt loops and epaulets in later garments, so why not incorporate this feature as well?

      Purely speculation on my part.
