  • Coverlet Haversack

At some point I had a picture of an 1860s coverlet haversack. It was made from a blue overshot coverlet. I'd appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction. I have some real nice pieces of an original coverlet that I found in an antique store that I want to use. Thanks in advance. I've spent about a week searching for info to no avail.

"I was told that even if a regiment was clothed in proper uniform by the Government, it would be parti-colored again in a week, as the soldiers preferred wearing the coarse home-spun jackets and trousers made by their mothers and sisters at home. The Generals very wisely allow them to please themselves in this respect"~Freemantle~
