    Mark, you well know that the victors write the history. The north left out events like Camp Douglas and Dresden, Germany (WW II) totally out of the history books... It's no wonder kids today don't have a clue. I just had a student who couldn't tell me where the Civil War was fought or who the President was when it occured... No joke, this was today...

      I had a student, a 10 year old boy who did not know who George Washington was..... truth
      Camp Douglas, if I remember my history, most of the prisoners died of common dieseases like measles and mumps. They spread like fire amongst the rank and file. The ladies of Chicago tried to help as best they could. It was cold on the Lake front!
      Andersonville was another story all together...
