moses alexander haversack

Hello all,

I was wondering if the Moses Alexander haversack, and other haversack similar to it would be used throughout the war, or if they would simply be discarded in favor of the Federal Issue haversack and other haversacks that were better waterproofed, i.e. painted, tarred. Any help would be great. Thanks,
