My Great great grandfather was in the 71st NYSM for their first 90 enlistment for Bull Run, and i'm looking at as an impression to add to my collection so to speak. Does anyone have uniform information for them for July 1861? I've seen a photograph of part of Co. C in their new york state jackets and black leathers which were not antibellum issue for the 71st because they originally had buff crossbelts. One of my big questions is the use of SNY buckles at the time. Unfortunatly in the photograph the buckles are colored gold and it's impossible to make out anything on them anymore.
