I've been looking into the various M1841 conversions done during the war for an upcoming defarb project and have a few questions I can't find answers to. I've seen a few Whitney 1841's online with the bayonet lug with 1" guide soldered on to the barrel and apparently no other changes, I've also found one on the Rock Island auction site that has the features above but is bored to .58. I can't find any information on what alteration this could be. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.
