  • Imported Sword Blade Lengths Query

Can anyone document an imported Civil War sword blade length of 29 inches? (It's on a reproduction US 1850 Staff/Field Officer's sword.)

Also, were any of the imported blades unmarked (without a manufacturer's name), but etched? If so, what was more typically unmarked, i.e., German, French, etc?

Other than the main sources -- Ames, Horstmann, Roby, Schuyler, etc -- what other common sources existed for a Federal volunteer officer to have purchased a sword?

    Many thanks,

    Bob

Klingenthal et Coulax (French), were lightly engraved on the spine and usually appear unmarked due to wear. I have pictures of mine in the sink for positive ID. I'll run to the shop tomorrow, and get a positive blade length for you.
