wedding bands

I have been wondering about what the men in the 1860's had for a wedding band? I have not seen any thing in photos that resembled one. I know that they had to have something and it would make a great discussion with spectators.

In discussion with relic hunters over the last 30 years the most common wedding rings found in CW sites are plain brass - gold was outside the range of many.

Personally, I've seen many original photos of soldiers & civilians alike wearing wedding bands. They're out there, you just have to find them.
