  • Interesting "camp" Scene

While looking for resources for a class I was teaching on the Civil War, I stumbled on this image in the LOC collection and wanted to share it because I thought it was a cool image with a lot going on.

1 photograph : quarter-plate tintype, hand-colored ; 13.9 x 16.5 cm (case) | Photo shows identified soldier in Union uniform. More information is in "Glimpses of Soldiers' Lives," http://www.loc.gov/rr/print/coll/SoldierbiosMooreC.html

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a studio camp scene before. Very interesting.

The glove/hand creeping into the image at the bottom is a rather odd part of what's going on here too.
