  • 1816 flint conversion

Hi i have a 1816 conversion that is a Harpers ferry 1826 dated and it needs some work done to it i would like to use it for reenacting but it is in rough shape and needs a good gun smith to work on it. dose anyone know where i can find a gunsmith that would get it up to working shape and fix some wood on the stock for me.

Contact David at Lodgewood. They are currently at the NSSA Nationals in Winchester, but will be back next week.

Before you put it in the mail to Lodgewood Mfg, you might want to have a competent local gunsmith look at it to see if it can be made safe to shoot at a price you are willing to pay. When I read the words "needs some work" and "rough shape" in reference to a weapon 190 years old, I think maybe it should be retired. There are still US 1816s in shooting condition, I would concentrate on finding one in better shape with the greater potential to meet your needs.

Don't know if you do anything for the NPS but you can't fire originals for their demonstrations.

i know i have other muskets this is manly for just demonstrations and, for things with some local museums. i only paid 400 for it and thought it would be cool to have it shooting blanks again.
