I know there is some documentation of strips of blanket being used for scarves in the colder months, but has anyone seen any documentation indicating that scraps of worn out clothing whether personal or scavenged was cut into a makeshift scarf? For instance, say a soldier was issued a fresh set of trousers or a jacket/coat and cut a strip from their old worn out pair (if there was an area large enough in good shape) and used it for a makeshift scarf. What about great coat modifications to cut part of the cape for a separate scarf? I was thinking about this earlier but have not been able to find any convincing photos or text documentation yet.
Thanks,
Patrick
