  • Looking for information on the Synder Bullet Machine of Watervliet

I am looking for technical specifications of the Synder Bullet Machine made at Watervliet Arsenal in 1859 by Mr. Abram G. Snyder at the direction of Major Mordecai.

Do any of these machines still exist? Or drawings for it? There is a drawing of the machine in Volume I of Round Ball to Rimfire, but it is insufficient to glean much about its operation.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Thanks, I had no idea that that arsenal was still in operation.

It seems they had a museum there until last year, but it has been closed. I have contacted the public relations at Watervliet Arsenal to see if they have any information or contact information for the past curator of the museum.

I have heard back from the previous curator of the now-closed museum at Watervliet Arsenal. He was kind enough to forward me a couple of chapters from a book on the history of the arsenal, which mentions the bullet machine in passing, but provides no details of it. They do not recall having seen such a machine and have no further information about it.
