I am looking for some documentation on the Kentucky jeans that Bragg seized during the Kentucky Campaign and brought South. What happened to all the cloth?
This much I have found: 27,000 yards were sent to Augusta in about November 1862 to have made into uniforms. What about the rest? Robert Serio says that Bragg took 400,000 yards of cloth out of Kentucky. There is a book that touches on this: The Camp, the Bivouac and the Battlefield by Washington Lafayette Gammage. Does someone have any quotes from the book that are relevant to the Kentucky jeans. The book is hard to come by now.
Thanks, Fred Adolphus
